Zbiornik Kultury, Austriacki Konsulat Generalny w Krakowie, Austriackie Forum Kultury w Krakowie oraz Małopolski Instytut Kultury zapraszają na otwarcie wystawy „I see You see”.

Pokaz „I see You see” prezentuje prace dwóch znaczących artystek współczesnej sceny sztuki austriackiej. Obrazy i instalacje Isy Schmidlehner (ur. 1971) i Esther Stocker (ur. 1974) dotyczą malarstwa i jego potradycjonalnej nowoczesnej dekonstrukcji. Obydwie zajmują się problematyką związaną z ciągle na nowo powtarzanymi pytaniami o linię i płaszczyznę, przestrzeń i kolor, porządek i chaos.

Schmidlehner i Stocker eksperymentują emancypacyjnie z dialektyką obecności i nieobecności, z materią i niematerialnością, architekturą i ciałem, porządkiem i nieporządkiem, w nawiązaniu do postmodernistycznych estetyk znikania i rozpraszania, naznaczonych kategoriami mobilności, przesycenia i przejrzystości, światła oraz zanikiem konturów realnego. Przyspieszone czasoprzestrzenne kontinuum generujące niewidzialne i nieograniczone w pracach artystek z Wiednia pozwala wyzwolić zarówno iluzję ulotnej (wirtualnej) realności, jak i ujawnić efekty autonomii estetycznej subiektywności, dające się także odczuć na własnym ciele.

Wystawa w krakowskim Zbiorniku Kultury prezentuje prace obu artystek scalone w pasaże całoprzestrzennej aranżacji, w której struktury i (nie)porządek jednych stają się kostiumem, namiotem, ekranem albo przejściowym korytarzem dla drugich. Również emocje i oczekiwania, w zależności od pozycji, jaką przyjmie odbiorca, poddane są niespokojnemu i nieuchwytnemu balansowaniu pomiędzy intymną metaforyką malarstwa a dystansem wizualnego języka geometrii.

The I see You see show presents two major artists from the contemporary Austrian arts scene.

The pictures and installations of Isa Schmidlehner (born 1971) and Esther Stocker (born 1974) deal with painting and its post-traditional modern deconstruction. Both tackle the oft-reiterated issues of line and surface, space and color, order and chaos.

Schmidlehner and Stocker emancipatively experiment with the dialectic of presence/absence, with material and non-materiality, architecture and body, order and disorder, alluding to postmodern aesthetics of vanishing and dispersing, marked by categories of mobility, supersaturation and transparency, light and the effacement of the contours of the real. The accelerated time/space continuum generating the invisible and the limitless in the works of these Viennese artists allows us both to free the illusion of fleeting (virtual) reality and to uncover the effects of the aesthetic autonomy of subjectivity, which can also be felt on our own body.

The exhibition at Krakow’s Zbiornik Kultury presents works by the two artists, united in the passage of an arrangement throughout a space viewed as a whole, in which the structure and (dis)order of one becomes a costume, a tent, a screen or a passageway to another. Depending on the observer’s stance, his/her emotions and expectations are subjected to an unsettling and intangible balancing act between the intimate metaphors of the paintings and the distance of the visual language of geometry.
